The Calm Before the Storm
After a few pretty intense days in Chiang Mai, we enjoyed more of a "tourist" day today. It was a lot of fun! Definitely a more relaxed day than usual, but we've been warned that the real "xtreme" part will start tomorrow...
We started out from our hotel at around 8:30 this morning. From there, we headed out with a tour group; it was mainly comprised of the Xtreme team along with a couple from Spain. That made it really nice for Abigail and Igna to use their Spanish! We went on a beautiful hike to a village and after that, we rode ELEPHANTS!! That was by far the most exciting part for me! It was so awesome to be able to enjoy God's beautiful creation from the back of one of His biggest creatures! After that, we headed to a waterfall and then on a bamboo raft trip. Raphael, Matt, and David were elected to steer the rafts from the back while the actual driver was in the front. Other than running into a couple of rocks and falling off the raft a few times, the trip was very fun and uneventful!
We were also excited to eat some American food tonight! While we have all loved the Thai, Karen, and other tribal foods that we've gotten the opportunity to eat so far, sometimes it's nice to eat something that's a little more familiar to our taste buds! Alex, (our XLACS) met us for dinner so that was a lot of fun to spend some extra time getting to know him!
Please continue to keep our team in your prayers as you think about us from day to day. We have enjoyed being able to learn about the different ministries and people groups here in Thailand! Things can be pretty overwhelming sometimes but God has been faithful to refresh us with His love and grace. Days like these are just a tangible reminder of that!
