Happy Canadian Day out there for all you Canadians! I was impressed, a few people even remembered and congratulated me. Today we packed up, prayed for the host family and headed back to White Water Crossing. Because of the rainstorms, they thought it would be a great idea if we walked 6 km to the next village. On the way, I got a chance to try the local weight lifting machine in the old school rice pounder (other places now have motorized pounders) The whole process takes about an hour of repetitions. Man, after yesterday. working in the fields and today's pounding I realized the heart and soul that goes into every grain of rice we chow each day. Our hike continued with only a slight sprained ankle and a leech as we enjoyed the rough terrain and slopes we climbed. God's presence was so real to me as gorgeous butterflies of all sorts and colors floated around us. We got to the village and enjoyed the rest of the journey from the back of the truck which was partly in the rain. ;-} On the way we stopped for lunch, lots of us were just salivating for some fruit. The pastor, our host, took off for town for what we thought was just to let his family know we were close by, but instead, he came back loaded down on his scooter with deliciously yummy fruit. Upon returning to White Water Crossing, we all decided that we were in dire need of washing clothes. So we embarked in the fun journey of washing our clothes bucket style. It was quite the Xtreme adventure for some of us. I especially learned that Karen clothes must be washed alone as they dye everything around them. One neighbor felt bad for us with all our wet clothes and let us use their new spin dryer that they were super proud in having. The rest of the night we kind of just chilled, bumming around the town trying many local sweets like cookies, milk, and dried bananas done right. Now we are just hanging around playing taboo and getting psyched to get on the internet tomorrow. I love y'll at home!!
